THOUGHTS
Starting with Psalm 120 is a series called “A song of degrees or
assents”. The series seems to go through Psalms 134. Scofield
, “Literally, "of ascents." Perhaps chanted by the people as
they went up to Jerusalem to the feasts.” The grandeur and expectation of
“Going to Where God Was” should fill us as we try to get “into
their shoes and walk with them”.
Ps 121:1-8 « A Song of Ascents. »
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. 3
He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4
Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The
LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun
will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will protect
you from all evil; He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will guard your
going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.
Ps 122:1 « A Song of Ascents, of David. » I
was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."
Ps 123:1 « A Song of Ascents. » To You I lift up
my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens!
Ps 125:1-5 « A Song of Ascents. » Those who trust
in the LORD Are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His
people From this time forth and forever. 3 For the scepter of
wickedness shall not rest upon the land of the righteous, So that the righteous
will not put forth their hands to do wrong. 4 Do good, O LORD, to those
who are good And to those who are upright in their hearts. 5 But as
for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, The LORD will lead them away
with the doers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.
Ps 127:1 « A Song of Ascents, of Solomon. » Unless
the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD
guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.
Zech 8:19-23 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘The fast
of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh and the fast of
the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house
of Judah; so love truth and peace.’ 20 "Thus says the LORD of hosts,
‘It will yet be that peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities. 21
‘The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, "Let us go at
once to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts; I
will also go." 22 ‘So many peoples and mighty nations will come to
seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the LORD.’
23 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘In those days ten men
from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, "Let us go
with you, for we have heard that God is with you."’"
We truly are the people of God. We must share HIM!
My Prayer:
May we lift up our eyes to You O Lord, the God of heaven. Revive our
gladness O God, to coming into Your presence, and joining each other in love
and fellowship. Be with us O Lord, that others may follow us to you.
